The Dorchester County Health Department will be here on Thursday, October 23rd, to provide flu vaccines to students and staff.
Flu can lead to severe symptoms like fever, chills, and body aches, causing children to miss school and potentially spreading illness to others at home, including vulnerable family members. Vaccines help keep your child and their loved ones safe by reducing the risk of contracting and spreading these viruses.
These clinics are conveniently located at schools, which means less time away from work and class.
For students, parents MUST sign a consent form for their child(ren) to be vaccinated. Forms are available from the school or the health department.

📐✨ Our 6th-grade mathematicians were busy exploring polyhedra in math class! Students used magnetic tiles to design and discuss 3D shapes, applying geometry concepts in a fun, hands-on way.

Look for a report with current reading ability coming home with your scholar the week of September 29th. Please speak to your scholar’s teacher if you have questions, concerns, or would like ideas for how to support literacy.
Five Tips for Supporting Literacy at Home:
1. Encourage summer IXL practice which can be done on cellphones and reading.
2. Read in the home, even reading cooking instructions and other practical items or product labels count.
3. Reply to one another’s text messages in complete sentences with punctuation and capitalization. (Bragging rights for being an editor and fixing other people’s errors.)
4. Watch media with closed captions turned on.
5. Go to the public library or check out books from the school library.
