CSDHS is on the rise! Our year-to-date attendance is 90.4%, up 3.4 points from last year. District-wide, DCPS is up 0.8 points. Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making every day count. Let’s keep the momentum going! #VikingPride #EveryDayCounts #BelieveInUs #withJOY
Last week during Power Lunch, Mr. Stover took the opportunity to engage with our students by sharing an overview of our district’s Strategic Plan. It was a great chance for students to learn about the goals and vision guiding our school community, and to understand how their efforts contribute to our collective success. We’re proud to foster transparency and involve both students and staff in the process.
What do all four of these students have in common? They are all outstanding students in the classroom! All of them were nominated last week for a job well done. Shoutout to Abdiel Castro Quinones, Giselle Guevara-Tovar, McKenzie Mooney, and Malachi Wilson for being selected by their teachers as student of the week. We are all proud of you!
Now that Homecoming has come and gone, we have another busy week ahead. This week is a 4 day week, as schools are closed Friday for the MSEA Convention. Other events include:
Monday we have Money for College Night at 5:30 in the library and the boys soccer team plays St. Michaels at home.
Tuesday, there are sports pictures beginning at 1:30. Don't forget your uniforms! The Cross Country team plays at Easton and the Girls Soccer team plays Crisfield at 4:30 for their senior night.
Wednesday, we have a county match up for the Boys soccer team where CSD plays NDHS at home.
Thursday, the Girls soccer team plays at NDHS and the Football team is looking to pick up their second win at Snow Hill at 6pm. Thursday, there is also a Junior ROTC information meeting and a BOE Meeting in the evening. Sunday, there is a Litter Pick up Day at Great Marsh - it's a great opportunity to earn some service learning hours!

This is my 11th year working for Dorchester County Public Schools and my 7th year in my role as a School Counselor. It's an honor and full-circle moment to be back at the place where my aspiration to become a School Counselor began. Parent Conference Day is coming up on Monday, October 6th. Teachers will be available to meet with parents from 9AM to 3PM with a lunch break from 12 - 12:30. We are trying out something new this year and offering special Parent Sessions from 10 until 12. The 30 minute Sessions are: Seniors, CCR Requirements, Fine Arts Session, and Community Outreach. These sessions will be in the Media Center during the times listed in the flier. Teachers will be reaching out to all students who have a D and E or poor attendance in their classes. We hope to see you there!!!
Happy Sunday Vikings!!! We have a big week this week, starting with our visit from the Harlem Tricksters Basketball team on Monday. During the day, we have a PBIS incentive at 11:30 for those eligible students. We also have a Family Event that evening at 5pm in the Gym. Interim Reports will be sent via e-mail on Wednesday. Homecoming Tickets will be on sale every day next week at lunch time. This is a reminder that students will need to pay their dues before purchasing a ticket.

Last week, we had special guests from MSDE visit our AP courses at CSD. They participated in group discussions during AP Government, caught the tail end of a World History class (where the students enthusiastically praised their teacher), and then held a meet-and-greet with the 10th grade AP Seminar students. Our school counselors and administrators shared both concerns and successes at CSD with the MSDE team. We look forward to receiving their feedback on ways to further grow our programs. Thank you again to MSDE for taking the time to visit us!

It's time for our week 2 Student Scholars of the Week! This week we want to give a big shout out to Daisey Todd, Akizhae' Hammond, Izmael Moran Cruz, and Joplin (Max) Miller. These students have had a great start to the school year and are proving to be leaders in the classroom!
