Young Authors at Vienna Elementary School!
Our first-grade students in Mrs. Margaret Diffenbach's class recently became published authors!
As part of a fun and engaging writing activity, each student wrote and illustrated their very own story. Their hard work was then transformed into a real published book, giving them the exciting opportunity to see themselves as authors.
Once their books arrived, each student proudly shared their story by reading it aloud to the class while Mrs. Susie Price, our principal, cheered them on and celebrated their accomplishments.
A special thank you to Mrs. Diffenbach for always finding creative and meaningful ways to make learning exciting for her students. She truly has a gift for turning everyday lessons into unforgettable experiences! #withJOY ❤️💚💙🐢❤️💚💙

🦋🌎 Butterflies & Earth Day Fun in PreK 3! 🌎🦋
Our PreK 3 students in Mrs. Friedel's class enjoyed a fun-filled day celebrating butterflies and Earth Day!
The students learned all about the butterfly life cycle and had the exciting opportunity to observe live butterflies up close. They were fascinated as they watched these beautiful insects and discovered how butterflies grow and change through metamorphosis.
As part of their Earth Day celebration, the class learned about caring for our environment and how we can help protect butterflies and other wildlife by taking care of the world around us. They also had fun creating their own Earth Day hats!
A special thank you to Mrs. Valerie Friedel and her wonderful instructional assistants, Mrs. Katie Reid and Ms. Chloe James, for working so well together to create these engaging, hands-on, and memorable learning experiences for our youngest Terrapins. #withJOY ❤️💚💙🐢❤️💚💙

At Vienna Elementary School, we really cherish the time spent together as a team! We recently enjoyed a fun celebration at Portside in Cambridge, Maryland, marking the end of another fantastic school year. It was a great chance to kick back, relax, and reflect on all the amazing things we accomplished during the 2025-2026 school year.

Vienna Elementary School would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Latrice Gray, registered play therapist from Creative Space Child Therapy, and her assistants for leading thoughtful lessons on social-emotional wellness and healthy lungs with all of our students. Through an exciting interactive game and "happy place" craft, our students learned valuable skills that support both their emotional and physical health. We are always thankful for Mrs. Latrice's weekly support of individual students, but we are EXTRA thankful for her taking the time to go the extra mile to support our whole student body.

We had such an amazing time on Friday, June 6, 2026, at our Play Day event at Vienna Elementary School! The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and our Vienna Terrapins filled the day with laughter and joy.
The afternoon kickball game brought out a lot of fun banter between the 5th graders and the adults. In the end, the adults came out on top with a score of 24-7! Sorry, 5th grade, but as you can see in the picture, Mr. Abbott is proudly claiming that his team is still number one!

**Stop, Drop, and Read Day!**
We had a fantastic day on June 3, 2026, at Vienna Elementary School during our "Stop, Drop, and Read" Day! Thanks to the wonderful Vienna Parent Association, each student received two amazing new books to enjoy.

STEM Day (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) was held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Vienna Elementary School and was sponsored by the Vienna Parent Association (VPA).
Our Terrapins had a fantastic day exploring hands-on STEM activities designed for their grade levels. Students participated in stations that included magnetic building challenges, cup tower engineering, sink-or-float experiments, bubble science, straw bridge construction, egg drops, watercraft design, and paper airplane challenges.
Special thanks to Mrs. Guldan, President of the VPA, for planning and organizing this event, as well as spending the entire day at our school and personally leading one of the STEM stations.
Thank you, VPA, for your continued support of our students and staff!
