Our PreK 3 students in Mrs. Friedel’s class had a fantastic time during center time, stepping into the role of construction workers! With hard hats and safety vests on, these young learners used their imagination to build, create, and explore. 🧱✨
From stacking blocks to designing their own structures, they are learning teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity—one “brick” at a time! 🏗️💛
A big thank you to Mrs. Friedel, our PreK 3 teacher, and Mrs. Ried and Ms. James, our instructional assistants, for supporting and encouraging our little builders every step of the way! 👏
Way to go, future builders! 👏🐢#withJOY

April Fool’s Day was so much fun at Vienna Elementary! 😄
Vienna Terrapin staff surprised our amazing principal, Mrs. Susie Price, with a giant pile of “Happy Mail,” and she was not only smiling but giggling through the morning announcements—what a joyful way to start the day!
This wonderful idea came from our very own Mrs. Margaret Diffenbach, 1st grade teacher, thank you for spreading so much happiness! And a big shoutout to Mrs. Price for being such a great sport!
Staff shared positive, encouraging words about our incredible Vienna Terrapins, filling the building with smiles and good vibes all around. It truly was an April Fool’s Day with a heartwarming, positive twist! 💚🐢 #WithJoy

On Thursday, April 2, our Vienna Terrapins had an egg-stra special time celebrating with fun activities! 🐣🌷
Students enjoyed exciting egg hunts, got creative coloring their eggs, and carefully placed them on their chairs… only to come back the next day and discover a sweet surprise—marshmallow peeps had “hatched”! 🐥💛
From adorable craft projects to lots of yummy candy, smiles were everywhere. It was a day full of fun, creativity, and springtime joy! 🌸✨#withJOY

We greatly appreciate Ms. Wilson and Ms. Bolden’s commitment to mentoring our Terrapins and making a positive impact on their lives.
Additionally, we extend our gratitude to Mrs. Connar Winn, our community school social worker, and Mrs. Michelle Frost, our school counselor, for organizing this valuable program for our students. 💙

Our House Meeting was a huge success on Friday, March 27th! From hula hoop games to bingo and even learning secret handshakes, our Vienna Terrapins had an amazing time connecting, laughing, and building House pride. ❤️💚💙
It was so special to come together as Amistad, Isibindi, and Rêveur and celebrate teamwork, friendship, and fun!

On March 30th, our youngest Vienna Terrapins in PreK 3, PreK 4, and Kindergarten enjoyed a wonderful arts-based assembly in the cafeteria hosted by Arts for Learning Maryland!
We were excited to welcome teaching artist Ms. Robin Neveu Brown, who led an engaging and interactive performance that sparked creativity and imagination in our students. 🌟
The fun didn’t stop there—Ms. Brown also worked closely with each class during follow-up workshops, giving our students a hands-on opportunity to explore the arts, express themselves, and build their creative confidence. 🎭🎶
💚 We are incredibly grateful to Mrs. Connar Winn, our Community School Social Worker, for her dedication in organizing such a meaningful and enriching experience for our students!
📸 A special shoutout to Ms. Casey O'Bier, Dorchester County Public Schools Public Relations and Communications Specialist, for beautifully capturing these unforgettable moments.
🎭 We also extend our sincere appreciation to Arts for Learning Maryland and Robin Neveu Brown for inspiring our Vienna Terrapins through the power of the arts. Your impact made this experience truly memorable!

Our 2nd grade students from Mrs. Carroll’s and Mrs. Thomas’ classes recently had an exciting adventure at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore! From hands-on exhibits to interactive learning, our Terrapins explored the wonders of science in a fun and engaging way.
One of the highlights of the trip was the IMAX theater where students learned all about beavers—including the adorable sounds they make! 🦫🎥 They also discovered how important beaver dams are in their habitat. These amazing animals build dams that help create ponds, provide homes for wildlife, and even protect the environment by slowing down water and reducing flooding. 🌿💧
A huge thank you to Mrs. Carroll for organizing such a memorable and educational field trip and to all of the family chaperones who were learners, too. Our Vienna Terrapins had an unforgettable day full of discovery, curiosity, and fun! 💚✨#withJOY

Our 1st grade students in Mrs. Diffenbach’s class at Vienna Elementary School put their creativity to work with a fun writing assignment: “If I Were the Principal…”
From making new rules to sharing kind ideas and big dreams, our Terrapins showed just how thoughtful and imaginative they can be! 💡💚 It’s safe to say the future is in great hands.
And of course, we are so proud to be led by our wonderful principal, Mrs. Susie Price! 🌟

Mrs. Sherri Todd, our PreK 4 teacher, along with Mrs. Jodi Condon, our PreK 4 instructional assistant, brought the story The Little Red Hen to life in their classroom! 📚✨
Students had a wonderful time acting out the story and helping retell what happened. They learned how hard the hen worked and had great conversations about the importance of helping others and working together. 🤝
To make the experience even more special, the hen “visited” the classroom and surprised everyone with a loaf of bread! The students worked together to make butter to enjoy with their bread—what a delicious way to see how teamwork and hard work pay off! 🐔🍞🧈
Way to go, PreK 4 Terrapins! 💚🐢 #withJOY

💚 Tiny Turtles, Big Terp Pride!
The 4th grade Terp Club students, along with their leaders—our 4th grade teachers Dr. Lucas and Miss Perry—had a great time creating these adorable little turtles during one of their Terp Club meetings! 🐢💚
They’re just as cute as Cookie, our real turtle, who is doing well and will be released on Poplar Island this spring. 🌿 What a special connection between creativity and real-life conservation!
A huge thank-you to Mrs. LeMire, our amazing Art and Media teacher, for helping gather paints and supplies and for generously sharing her space with us. 🎨✨
🐢 A special thank you to Dr. Lucas and Miss Perry for their dedication and all they do for our Terrapins! #withJOY

Vienna Elementary students had an amazing time during a special assembly with Mr. Rob Thomas from Didgeridoo Down Under! His interactive show, “Protect the Planet,” combined music, culture, and an important message about taking care of our Earth. 🌿
Mr. Thomas wowed the crowd by playing the didgeridoo and even invited some students to come up and learn how to play it themselves—what a fun and unique experience! 🎶
Students were engaged, excited, and inspired as they learned how even small actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet. 🌎💚
A special thank you to Mrs. Winn, our community school social worker, for organizing this wonderful opportunity for our Vienna Terrapins! 💚🐢
Thank you, Mr. Thomas, for an unforgettable experience!
