Our dedicated Vienna Elementary School team wants to thank you for supporting the arts by attending Spring Arts Night. Your participation made the event a remarkable success, and we couldn't have done it without the incredible support of our families. Mrs. LeMire appreciates the parents who purchased framed artwork created by our talented students. Your contributions play a vital role. The proceeds will directly benefit our art program, enabling us to acquire essential supplies during these challenging budgetary times. If you were unable to attend the event and would still like to purchase your child’s framed work, you have until Friday, May 23 to do so. The cost is $10. If you choose not to purchase the frame, the artwork will be sent home in their portfolio in June. Thank you once again for your invaluable support! Together, we are nurturing creativity and the arts in our school.

On April 30th, 2025, to celebrate the final day of World Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month, our guidance counselor, Mrs. Frost, organized an exciting Pokémon game for students in grades 1st through 5th. Students searched for paper cutouts of Pokémon characters hidden throughout the school. Each character had points ranging from 1 to 100 on the back, which would contribute to their "HOUSE" points. Congratulations to Rêveur for winning the Pokémon game and earning 410 House points! Well done to Isibindi for collecting 250 House points and Amistad for achieving 190 House points! It's important to remember that children with autism can have bright futures! Did you know that Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokémon, is on the autism spectrum? He is an excellent example of the potential children and adults can achieve!

We want to give a special congratulations to Vienna Elementary's Mental Health Poster Contest winner, Emily Bramble, from our 5th grade! She, along with other VES students, created and submitted posters into the district-wide DCPS Mental Health Poster Contest. This is an annual contest for students of all ages to celebrate and acknowledge May as Mental Health Awareness Month. All county winners were given a $50 Walmart gift card and their posters will be framed and displayed in local businesses. Transition Night
On Thursday, April 24th, Vienna Elementary School had an exciting opportunity to welcome representatives from Hebron Savings Bank! Mrs. Amber Bramble, the Vienna Branch Manager, and Mrs. Lindsey North, the Pocomoke Branch Manager, inspired our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with an engaging discussion about the crucial role of saving money and planning for a successful future. Mrs. Bramble, a familiar face at our school, prompted students to reflect on last year's lessons and was thrilled by their thoughtful insights. She shared a relatable story about her daughter, Emily, a fifth grader at Vienna, who dreams of owning a truck one day. Emily is taking proactive steps by saving her babysitting money, with her parents offering to match her savings to help her achieve her goal. This powerful example serves as a fantastic model for our students! Mrs. Bramble encouraged all the students to share their dreams as well. Eva aspires to own a bookstore, Aiden envisions a life as a farmer, and Brice dreams of being a truck driver. They discussed creative ways to save money, including babysitting and managing their allowances. Mrs. Bramble's key message resonated deeply: "Money won't just appear; you need a plan and to dream big!" As their visit ended, Mrs. Bramble emphasized that banks are the safest places for money and encouraged students to consider opening a savings account, with their parent's permission, to start their financial journeys. In closing, Mrs. Bramble and Mrs. North distributed coin purses with the Hebron Savings Bank logo as thoughtful gifts. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both ladies for sharing their invaluable knowledge, which is vital in guiding our students toward becoming responsible and financially savvy adults. Let's empower them to pursue their dreams and pave the way for bright futures!

SPRING TESTING CONTINUES TO BE UPON US! This year’s Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) testing for Mathematics will begin for all Grades 3-5 students starting May 5th, 2025. **Grade 3 Math: May 5 - 8, 2025** **Grade 4 Math: May 12 - 15, 2025** **Grade 5 Math: May 19 - 22, 2025** For the Math tests, there are four sections and 40 minutes per section. The goal for all students is to earn a level 3 (“proficient”) or level 4 (“distinguished”).
