Welcome to a new school year!
Here are some upcoming dates, call for volunteers and answers to some questions:

August 28-
3-5pm is our back to school event to meet the teachers and bring in supplies if you want to. We have several food trucks for you to purchase dinner and dessert.

September 2 -
1st through 8th return to school- doors open at 8:30am. Bus drivers will contact you about any bus changes. Call us if your still confused
September 4th
PreK and Kindergarten begin. The teachers will be setting up individual conferences with parents.

Reminders:
*Backpacks must clear
*Asking that water bottles be clear and plastic
*No cell phones! If you send a cell phone in with your students they must be put away and kept in locker or backpacks. If any cell phone is out (even in back pockets) the phone will be taken and will be returned at the end of the day (parents do not need to retrieve them)
*no smart watches
*dress code- no bellies showing this goes for all ages. No underwear showing. Nothing inappropriate should be on clothing such as images of drugs, alcohol, or curse words.

Volunteers are needed;
*Coaches for cross country running and basketball
*Hosting a 5k
*We will have a table to sign up for a parent group at BTS night
*Looking for someone who may be willing to put together 2 playground wooden houses for the younger kids.

NOTICE OF BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING DATE: Thursday, June 12, 2025 TIME: 5:00 p.m. PLACE: The Board Room Central Office of the Board of Education 700 Glasgow Street Cambridge, MD 21613 The Board of Education of Dorchester County will conduct an Open Session at the date, time, and location indicated above to address business as indicated on the agenda. After the start of the Open session, the Board will meet in Closed in accordance with Section 3-305 of the General Provisions of the Annotated Code of Maryland to discuss personnel, update on legal issues, and coaching training. At the conclusion of the Closed Session, the Board will reconvene at 6:00 p.m. in the Open Regular Session. The agenda and related documents can be accessed online via BoardDocs on the Dorchester County Public Schools website at www.dcps.k12.md.us. Dorchester County Public Schools will be operating on a 2 hour dealy due to fog. Be safe!

They will begin spraying the school property at 3485 Golden Hill Road for mosquitoes on Monday 5/19/25. We have the school signed up for 2 sprays per week from 5/19/25 through 10/10/25. The 2 times per week sprays will take place on Monday and Thursday mornings before 7AM from 5/19/25 - 10/10/25., '. Please see attached.

Ready…Set…Register! Online registration for the 2025-2026 school year for PreK-3 through Kindergarten will open on Thursday, April 24, 2025. PreK-3 slots are limited and are only offered at Sandy Hill, Maple, Vienna and Hurlock Elementary Schools. PreK-3 students must be 3 years old by September 1, 2025; PreK-4 students must be 4 years old by September 1, 2025; and Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025. Kindergarten attendance is mandatory by the State of Maryland. What do you need to register? Proof of age (original birth certificate or passport), proof of residence (lease, mortgage statement, or utility bill), proof of relationship to the student (birth certificate, court order, legal documentation), and up-to-date immunization records. PreK-3 and PreK-4 students also need proof of income for all adults residing in the household (2024 tax return, 2024 W2’s, current paystubs, and proof of additional income—TCA, child support, unemployment). Our 5k in Baltimore is this Sunday, April 27. We will meet at CSD at 6:15 am and take a charter bus there. You are more than welcome to drive separately or take the bus with us. I have been having issues with their website, so reach out to me (Ms Prosser) if there are issues.

Mark your calendars- Spring Pictures are March 28

Due to the anticipated weather conditions below we are dismissing students 2 hours early. All after-school activities will be cancelled as well.

Due to schools being closed two hours early, we will not have girls on the run today.

Computers will be staying at school this week for testing. Just 5th and 8th grade.

The 5th and 8th graders will be keeping laptops AT SCHOOL next week- March 3rd-March 7th so the computers will be safely charging here at school for MISA testing. Thank you!

We are taking the 8th to DCTC this Friday during school. They have the opportunity to also eat at Chic Fil A and can bring money for that or we can bring a bagged lunch.

Current 8th graders and parents are invited to CSD High School information night this Thursday February 27 at 6pm at Cambridge South Dorchester High School in the cafeteria. This night is for information and we will schedule time with Ms. Willey to actually register for high school classes in the coming weeks.

Good afternoon! DCPS will operate on a regular schedule and open on time tomorrow, Friday, February 21st. This is a reminder to make sure that your child brings his/her fully charged device and charger back to school. Thank you!
