Career development is an ongoing process that doesn’t take a summer break. Ms.Shay, Career Coach is on the move connecting with students in their summer programs discussing career identity and the power of self-awareness and reflection. Pictured is a visit to Boys & Girls Club on Leonard’s Lane where she presented a career lesson and brought special guest, Jayla Elise, Singer/Songwriter and AB, CEO of Music Management. Such a great time with BGC students and their staff!

Yesterday, DCPS Career Coach, Mrs. Shay spent the day making career connections for some of our MLMS Tigers. Pictured is Janay Elliott, Giselle Escobar, Reital Halasa, and Kayleigh Morgan who are headed to Washington College’s Vision to Freedom Career Exploration Program for the week.
Pictured is Artist/Songwriter, Ms. Jayla Elise with Trinity Frazier who has agreed to be Trinity’s mentor.
Mrs. Shay “while Reital Halasa, Janay Elliott, Giselle Escobar, and Trinity Frazier are all transitioning to 9th grade, career development is an ongoing process and as a career coach I will not just dropped them off as I take pride in being apart of their journey. Once a tiger, always a tiger”!

Good morning MLMS families and community. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Cook to the Lane as our new principal for the 25-26 school year. Her message is as follows:
Dear Mace's Lane Middle School Family,
I'm writing to you as the new principal of MLMS. I am excited to become a part of this vibrant and dedicated learning community. I have 24 years of experience in education including teaching, instructional assistant, homeschool liaison, dean of students and assistant principal. I am passionate about creating a positive and safe learning environment where all students can thrive. My goal is to collaborate with staff, students, parents and community stakeholders to build upon the strong foundation already established and continue to improve our school. I am looking forward to the many opportunities to build positive relationships, learn, grow and achieve together.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kesha Cook

While the school year has come to an end, the memories can never be erased says Mrs.Shay. The last day of school, Mrs. Shay presented the 8th grade MLMS BE-U Ambassadors, the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens book as a transitional gift. It has been such a pleasure working with these girls and their families! Excited to see them GrOwww‼️

Another year has come and gone, and our Sunshine Committee treated our hard working staff to some Kona Ice on this hot afternoon. Thank you Sunshine Committee! ☀️
