CASE Agriscience students got their hands dirty this week! We are learning about the components of soil and soil formation. Students were able to evaluate the textures of pure sand, silt, and clay, and then they were able to complete a ribbon test on 10 different samples of soil from local areas to determine the soil texture. It was a messy task, but we determined most of our soil samples were sandy loam or silty loam.

Last week, former HVAC Student & CSDHS 2021 Graduate, Nehemiah Davis came to speak with Mr. Beauchamp's students on the importance of having a plan. He shared how his military journey has afforded him the opportunity to travel, make money, and serve our country. Thank you to Career Coach, Shay Lewis-Sisco for coordinating this visit.

Students from our Medical Services and Biomedical Sciences programs were fortunate to have Dr. Gerald Kayingo and Mrs. Victoria Trott from the University of Maryland Baltimore join us to share a presentation on the process of becoming a Physician Assistant. Students were provided the opportunity to practice strength tests as a PA on a partner/patient.

CASE Agriscience students are learning the importance of precise measurements in the science lab this week. They measured length to cut and build a paper cube. Next, they measured mass, liquid volume, and temperature to create a mixture of Jell-O to pour into the paper cube. Once the mixture solidified, they measured the dimensions of the Jell-O cube to calculate its volume and density!
Last week, Crystal Steel in Federalsburg hosted " Steel Day" with the American Welding Society. Representatives from Lincoln Welding, Miller Welding, ESAB welding products and employees from Crystal Steel took their time to show students in high school welding programs what welders really do, and opportunities that are there for them.
They even got to meet National Miller representative Stephanie Hoffman.

Last week, Next Generation senior Medical Services students from Dorchester Career and Technology Center, Cambridge, Maryland visited Kaiser Permanente in Timonium, Maryland, to learn more about healthcare careers. They had the opportunity to talk to doctors and personnel in Nursing, Radiology, Pharmacy, and other healthcare departments.
Dorchester Career and Technology Center is proud of Savanah Hurt, an alumna of the 2019 Medical Services Program. She has returned to share her knowledge of her studies in the Occupational Therapy Program at Wor-Wic Community College with the Medical Services Program students Medical Services Program students.
