🦴🔍 Homeland Security Students Investigate Tool Mark Evidence!
Our Homeland Security class is diving into a fascinating unit on bones and bone evidence. Students are learning how different tools leave unique marks based on factors like blade type and motion.
While investigators can’t always identify the exact tool used, they can often determine the type — such as a hand saw or bow saw — by studying the characteristic marks left behind.
Today, students put their knowledge to the test using a bow saw, hacksaw, and pruning saw to cut PVC pipe. Back in the classroom, they carefully compared and analyzed the tool marks, sketching the distinctive patterns each tool created.

October is bullying awareness and prevention month. DCPS will participate in the National Unity Day 2025 campaign on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. All students, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear ORANGE to show a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying! Everyone is encouraged to post pictures to social media using the hashtags #UnityEveryDay and #withJOY.
