This picture captures the pivotal role of Dorchester Career and Technology Center (DCTC) career coach Ms. Shay Lewis-Sisco, assisting student Messiah Fletcher in writing a working resume and completing paperwork for a shadowing experience. Shay's guidance and support have been crucial in Messiah's journey, and her efforts are a testament to the strong support system at DCTC.   In addition, Messiah's persistence has helped her gain invaluable shadowing experiences at the University of Maryland Shore Memorial Center at Easton. Messiah has had the opportunity to observe firsthand how to deliver and access a newborn in the Department of Labor and Delivery. This firsthand opportunity has not only enhanced Messiah's knowledge, but it also paved the way for future medical services students to gain similar experiences, as many of them will work in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities as they pursue careers and further their education in healthcare.

Today, we highlight Daniel Yorton, a student apprentice at the University of Maryland Center of Environmental Sciences (UMCES) in the Horn Point Oyster Hatchery. UMCES expanded their partnership by registering for the MD Youth Apprenticeship Program and taking Daniel as their very first student Oyster Hatchery Aquaculturist Apprentice.
