Choptank's earliest Hummingbirds enjoyed Transition Night! Students and families were able to explore the school, visit the cafeteria, classrooms, ride a school bus, enjoy a dinner together, and play at the carnival games! We can't wait to welcome these upcoming PK and Kinder Hummingbirds!

Get ready for some serious math magic and lava dodging! Mrs. Travis' incredible 5th graders have been hard at work reviewing for their Math MCAP and their classroom transformation "The Floor is Lava" took their review to a whole new level! These amazing students conquered fractions, mastered multiplication and division, navigated coordinate planes like seasoned explorers, and tackled tricky word problems – all while strategically avoiding the treacherous "lava" on the floor. It was an engaging and exciting way to reinforce key concepts.
We even had a daring lava rescue mission! Don't worry, everyone is safe and sound, and their math skills are sharper than ever.

A day of Area and Perimeter fun in Wonderland 🏰❤️ All 3rd grade students found the area and perimeter of my (The Queen of Hearts 👸 ❤️) rose garden, helped the Mad Hatter with his tea table measurements, helped Alice find the area and perimeter of the tunnel she tumbled down so she could return home, helped the rabbit measure his memo, and settled area/perimeter war between my guards. These third graders will take their Unit 7 assessment on 2D shapes, area and perimeter tomorrow and I can't wait for them to show all they know!

Sweet Success in 5th Grade! 🍬 Mrs. Travis' amazing 5th graders put their decimal skills to delicious use in a Candy Shop classroom activity today! They tackled real-world math problems by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals to figure out candy costs. They also sharpened their rounding skills and compared decimal values to put their sweet treats in order. Big thanks to Ms. Collins and Mrs. Dajani for their awesome assistance in the candy shop!
