Dorchester County Public Schools invites students, parents, teachers, and community members to provide feedback on a proposed update to our cell phone policy aimed at improving the learning environment in schools.
Over the past year, the district conducted a pilot program in select schools to test various approaches to cell phone use during the school day. The pilot provided valuable insights into what was needed to update the current policy.

Happy Summer Hummingbird Families. As we head in to July and families begin to purchase for school please keep the following essentials in mind. Clear back packs and water bottles will be required. Uniforms are returning for the 2025-26 school year. Due to budget constraints we cannot guarantee these items will be provided this school year.
Keep working on those reading and math skills! School Material lists will be coming out in a few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our final PAC and summer activity night! Dr. Parker broke down key metrics to shows the schools growth over the past two years and where we need to go next. Teachers were on hand to explain the summer activity bags we have purchased for every student PK-4. The next opportunity to get your activity bag will be at your students awards this week.

At the conclusion of the Closed Session, the Board will reconvene at 6:00 p.m. in the Open Regular Session.

Get ready for some serious math magic and lava dodging! Mrs. Travis' incredible 5th graders have been hard at work reviewing for their Math MCAP and their classroom transformation "The Floor is Lava" took their review to a whole new level! These amazing students conquered fractions, mastered multiplication and division, navigated coordinate planes like seasoned explorers, and tackled tricky word problems – all while strategically avoiding the treacherous "lava" on the floor. It was an engaging and exciting way to reinforce key concepts.
We even had a daring lava rescue mission! Don't worry, everyone is safe and sound, and their math skills are sharper than ever.
