If you have trouble logging on or accessing assignments, please reach out to your teacher directly through Schoology message or email.

Hello DCPS families and staff—this is a quick update from Winter Weather Headquarters ❄️

After Monday and Tuesday’s snow days, we’ve officially used all the snow days in our calendar. That means Wednesday, January 28, 2026, will be a virtual learning day for students.

Students should either log in for virtual learning, or—if your family requested a paper packet—work on the packet that was sent home last Friday.

Schools shared virtual learning details last week, so families should already have schedules and login information. If you need a refresher, please check your school’s messages.

Just a reminder that Thursday and Friday are professional development and semester transition days, so students will not be in session. Staff will participate in virtual professional development and should check their email for details.

Thanks for your flexibility—stay warm, and we’ll see our students online tomorrow!

The CSD Interact Club members, along with their advisor Mr. Tremper, visited the Baywater Animal Shelter to help prepare the indoor and outdoor cat houses for the upcoming cold weather. The club worked hard scrubbing, cleaning, and emptying hay from the houses—tasks that would normally take all day. Thanks to their efforts, the Interact Club was able to complete everything in just two hours!

⚠️Winter Weather Update from DCPS⚠️

A winter storm may impact our area this weekend (Jan 24-25, 2026). DCPS plans to open on a regular schedule on Monday, January 26, but we will monitor conditions closely and keep you informed of any changes.

❄️School Schedule - DCPS is scheduled to open for a normal school day on Monday, January 26.
❄️Weather Monitoring - If the storm moves in this weekend, we may need to close schools. Weather-related updates will be provided through the DCPS app, social media platforms, email, phone system, and website.
❄️Snow Days - DCPS has 2 more snow days built into our 2025-2026 school calendar. Maryland law requires us to use all built-in snow days before considering virtual instruction.
❄️Virtual Instruction - If the storm results in school closures beyond 2 days, we will switch to virtual instruction. Grades 1-12 will log into their devices to connect with teachers online. PK and K students will receive paper copies and can contact teachers for help.
❄️Preparation - Students with device agreements will bring devices home Friday; all other students and students in PK and K will receive paper assignments.

📅Possible Closure Plan:
❌Monday 1/26: If closed, no school
❌Tuesday 1/27: If closed, no school
💻Wednesday 1/28: If closed, virtual instruction begins
❌Thursday 1/29: Schools Closed for Staff Professional Development
❌Friday 1/30: Schools Closed for Change of Semester

We want to give a special shoutout to our four Student Scholars of the Week: C'Asiah Hilton, Eliu Escalante-Gonzalez, Jazmin Meso-Calderon, and Edwin Felton. Each of these students has truly stood out in the classroom, and we are proud of their dedication and commitment to going above and beyond in their studies. Keep up the great work!

Happy Sunday! Vikings - we have two more days of testing for the fall. These are for students who need to take the Government test. They will be testing Monday and Tuesday morning. Evening High is wrapping up as well, so make sure that if you are participating you stay and follow up with your teacher.
Winter Sports are in full swing at CSD. Come out and support our students! There are events happening each day.

Ms. Eames’ German 2 class is finishing the semester strong! Students chose a travel destination from a provided list and created an outfit using props from a bag of clothes to wear to that destination. Then, they described their outfit to the class in German, and the class had to guess the destination. The students did very well with this assignment. Ja’yhon Meekins and Ky’Juan Molock really got into the spirit by “wearing” their selected outfits. You can probably guess their chosen destination: Deutschland (Germany)!

Here are our four Student of the week Students! We have Caleb Molock, who did a fantastic job with the winter concert, Gavin McCray who is an excellent student, Kayleigh True who participates in her math class, and Nayloni Kinnamon who is awesome at Math and just completed two dual enrollment classes. These students are all respectful in and out of the classroom and have stood out to their teachers and other staff. Keep up the great work!

During the last week of December, our Interact Club had the honor of delivering over 200 holiday bags to residents at Mallard Bay and Autumn Lake.

Each bag was hand-decorated by our members and filled with festive socks, a holiday card, a candy cane, and a small stuffed animal. Female residents also received a piece of jewelry, and residents who were able to, were treated to a donut.

This project was all about spreading joy, warmth, and holiday cheer, and we are so proud of our Interact members for their dedication to service and for making a meaningful impact in our community.

Da'Zhier Pinder, Jazzlyn Johnson, Jeffrey Sellman, and Ke'Shandra Elliott have all stood out to their teachers over the past few weeks.
