Dear Vienna Elementary School Families,

We hope you're all doing well and enjoying your summer break! We're excited to share some important information with you, including the school supply lists for grades PreK3 through 5 and details about our Vienna school uniforms.

Here are a few key dates to keep in mind:
- **Open House for Dorchester County Public Elementary Schools**: Join us at Vienna Elementary School on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

- **First Day of School for Grades 1 - 5**: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 2, 2025. We look forward to welcoming our students back!

- **PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten Student and Parent Orientation Sessions**: We invite you to attend one of the following sessions to help you and your child prepare for the exciting school year ahead:
- Tuesday, September 2, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 3, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

And remember, the **first day of school for our PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten students** will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, our 5th grade students had a fantastic time kayaking at Blackwater Adventures, located at 2524 Wallace Drive, Cambridge, MD! They also had the opportunity to explore the Harriet Tubman Museum at the beautiful Blackwater Wildlife Refuge.

A big shoutout to our instructional coach, Mr. Shane Abbott, for assisting our grade 5 teachers, Mr. Robert Sorrells and Ms. Jeanell Todd, in organizing this memorable trip, and to all the amazing chaperones who joined us for the day!

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Blackwater Adventures and the Harriet Tubman Museum for being such wonderful hosts. On Thursday, May 22, 2025, our 3rd grade students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Dorchester County Historical Society Heritage Museum, located at 1003 Greenway Drive in Cambridge, Maryland. The knowledgeable staff at the museum shared fascinating insights about a variety of historical figures from Dorchester County, including the courageous Harriet Tubman and legendary Annie Oakley.

During this enriching visit, students not only explored the historic Meredith House, built in 1760, but also wandered through its beautiful grounds and surrounding buildings. The museum's engaging exhibits delve into local history, showcasing topics such as folklore traditions, ancestry, farming life, and an impressive 18th-century strong house. Visitors can also immerse themselves in a blacksmith shop, an herbal garden, and informative displays on Native American heritage, among many other captivating features.

We had a fantastic time at Vienna Elementary School's PreK Transition Night on Tuesday, May 20, 2025! It was great to welcome all the new and returning students who will be joining us in PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.

Our students had a great time riding the bus, exploring the school, visiting classrooms, and enjoying a delicious pizza dinner.

We hope you are enjoying reading the book, "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" by Sean Covey, with your children! Thanks to our successful Family Night workshop, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families," held on March 11, 2025, the company sent us a copy of the book free of charge to all Vienna students. Franklin Covey, in partnership with Mrs. Connar Winn, our School Social Worker and Community School Liaison, is dedicated to offering impactful programs for families. Their mission to cultivate leaders of all ages is essential in building a brighter future, from our classrooms to the boardroom. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both Franklin Covey and our very own Mrs. Winn for working as partners for our students!

A big thank you to the wonderful Vienna Parent Association for putting together such a fun bingo event on May 18, 2025, all to support our beloved Vienna Elementary School!

Let’s make this summer a fun and productive math adventure!

The 5th grade promotion ceremony at Vienna Elementary School was an unforgettable event! It was a celebration filled with joy and emotion as our 5th grade students prepared to transition from elementary school to new adventures ahead at North Dorchester Middle School. On Thursday, June 12, 2025, each grade 5 student took center stage, chose a personal song to walk into the cafeteria, and received a warm hug from Principal Mrs. Susie Price. They walked, danced, and high-fived family members on the way and one student even performed a flip down the aisle while heading toward the stage. After the last student arrived on stage, Mrs. Price made her entrance to the song "School's Out for Summer." At the beginning of the program, the students recited the Pledge of Allegiance and our "Pledge to Success" together with their families and friends in the audience for the last time at Vienna Elementary School. It was truly a bittersweet moment; saying goodbye was difficult. However, it was time for them to move on and continue learning and growing in middle school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the production of our 5th grade promotion ceremony. You did a marvelous job! Most importantly, we would like to thank our parents for their unwavering support over the years. We at VES would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our 5th grade students. We are excited for them as they embark on their new adventure, and we have no doubt it will be a great one!

What an amazing day we had at our PreK3 and PreK4 promotion ceremonies at Vienna Elementary School on Thursday, June 12, 2025! The PreK students looked adorable in their cute outfits, shining with joy and excitement. The performances on stage were truly unforgettable! We couldn't be prouder of all their hard work and achievements. This year has been a wonderful journey filled with lots of learning and fun! A big shoutout goes to our fabulous teachers, Ms. Joy Bradshaw for PreK3 and Mrs. Sherri Todd for PreK4 and their amazing instructional assistants, Mrs. Jodie Condon, Mrs. Rebecca Compton, and Mrs. Katie Reid. The passion and dedication of these five ladies have made such a positive impact on our youngest students' lives. And a huge thank you to all the families and friends who came out to celebrate our amazing students! These talented students have such bright futures ahead of them, and the best is yet to come!

Thank you to our exceptional students, parents, grandparents, and caregivers for a remarkable school year. Your support has been invaluable, and together, we achieved great things! Enjoy your summer.

Wishing a very Happy Father's Day to all the incredible fathers of our Vienna Elementary School students! We have some of the world's most patient, loving, and supportive dads. Thank you for everything you do! We would also like to give a special shout-out to everyone who takes on a fatherly role—stepfathers, grandfathers, foster fathers, adopted fathers, and father figures, as well as our beloved fathers who are no longer with us. We truly appreciate the love and support you provide to our students. Once again, to all of you, we say THANK YOU and enjoy your SPECIAL day.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, we had an amazing turnout at Vienna Elementary School for our kickball game between the 5th graders and the staff! It was a thrilling match, and we're excited to share that the staff came out on top with a score of 11-6. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us and cheered for our wonderful staff and students! Your support made the event even more memorable and fun!

You are cordially invited to the promotion ceremony at Vienna Elementary School Tomorrow, Thursday, June 12, 2025! Join us in the school cafeteria to celebrate your child's achievements! Here is the time schedule for each promotion: ** PreK 3 ** 9:00 a.m. ** PreK 4 ** 9:30 a.m. ** 5th Grade ** 10:00 a.m. Our PreK 3 and PreK 4 may come uniform-free; feel free to dress your best. Our 5th grade students should wear shorts or a skirt with their promotion ceremony t-shirt. We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with you and your child. After the ceremony, you are welcome to take your child home to continue the celebration together. We can't wait to see you there!

No amount of rain or clouds could stop the Vienna Terrapins from having a fantastic time at our Play Day event! A huge shoutout to Ms. Shanna Hubbard, our excellent Physical Education teacher, for putting it all together. We're also super grateful to all the wonderful volunteers, including some of our former Vienna students, for their help. And a big thank you to all the parents who came out to join the fun—we loved having you there!
