The Vienna Parent Association seeks donations to fill a "Family Night-In" Basket. If you are interested in donating an item for this basket, please drop off all donations to Vienna Elementary School Before Friday, November 15th.
We will start selling tickets for the basket(s) on Monday, November 18th, and will continue until December 13th. We will also have tickets for sale at the Vienna Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 30th.
We will draw and announce the winner on Friday, December 13th, at our Family Movie Night and on our Facebook page.

This is just a reminder that family members are cordially invited to our annual school turkey "dinner" on Thursday, November 14, 2024, to begin celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday season.
Please remember to complete the required reservation form and submit the pre-payment ( $7.00 per Adult) by Friday, November 8th, 2024.
Our menu and lunch times are listed on the form. There is no charge for Vienna students.
Red Ribbon Week was celebrated from October 23 to 31, and Vienna has been displaying red ribbons in classrooms to honor this occasion.
Ms. Kirsten Hurley and Ms. Kerianne Hinerman from the Dorchester County Health Department visited Vienna Elementary to promote drug education and raise awareness in schools and the community about the importance of a drug-free life.
It's essential to recognize that students and alcohol do not mix; alcohol can impair brain function. Furthermore, vaping is more harmful than cigarettes, and marijuana impairs learning and remains illegal for individuals under 21.
Adults should store prescription medications in a secure location and properly dispose of expired medications. This can be done by using disposal bins available at hospitals or police departments or mixing them with undesirable substances, like coffee grounds, before throwing them away.
Be mindful of peer pressure. We emphasize that students should not let others influence or encourage them to engage in harmful behaviors. Stay away from drugs and send a clear message: choose to remain drug-free.

Connor Price, an invaluable asset to the Tri City Wahoos, dominated at second base, allowing no room for opponents to outperform him. Connor's exceptional talent was instrumental in the team's success. Outstanding performance, Connor!
Alligators, lizards, and snakes—oh my! Mr. Michael Shwedick, the founder and director of Reptile World, has introduced America to the fascinating world of reptiles. Recently, he visited Vienna to teach staff and students about the importance of caring for reptiles and the environment. “Reptiles belong to the earth,” Mr. Shwedick emphasized.
With his calming voice, Mr. Shwedick kept the students engaged as they met a variety of reptiles, including a snapping turtle, a Mexican beaded lizard, an American alligator, and a Mexican milk snake affectionately named Lipstick. He also introduced Lipstick's daughter, Mini Lipstick, and her grandson, Chapstick—what fun and clever names! Additionally, there was Jane, a Brazilian baby anaconda who is already 11 feet long, and a venomous Eastern copperhead snake.
The highlight of the presentation was, drum roll, please… Banana Bread, a python! Weighing 110 pounds and measuring 16 feet long, Banana Bread wowed the students with her sheer size. The students were in awe, unable to believe their eyes.
Mr. Shwedick has a deep love for both children and reptiles, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge about these amazing creatures. He said, “The greatest gift we have is the difference we can make in the lives of others.”
As he stated in his presentation “See you later, alligator.”

Our recent "House" meeting was a tremendous success, showcasing the spirit of our community! Each of the three "Houses" organized captivating activities, from exhilarating outdoor fun and games to creative bracelet-making sessions.
We celebrated our time together and deepened our sense of unity. Witnessing older students stepping in to help younger House members was truly inspiring. This is unity and kindness in action. Vienna students truly shine!

Mason Orme is a dedicated and passionate basketball player with years of experience playing through the YMCA and Recreation and Parks. His commitment to the sport makes him a true role model. With a motto of "Practice, practice, practice!" he inspires others to work hard and achieve their goals.
Brock Marshall, a talented 3rd grade student at Vienna, excels as a left fielder or second baseman for the Tri-City Nationals. In addition to his success in baseball, he is currently in his third wrestling season and is determined to make his mark in upcoming tournaments. Keep up the great work, Brock!
What an amazing autumn day Vienna students, families, and staff had at our annual Fall Festival!
The end-of-October weather couldn't have been better, and the setting was the perfect backdrop for a school day packed with (mostly) outdoor activities. We crafted pinecone bird feeders, danced to some “spooky” tunes, and jumped in hay and straw searching for gourds and little pumpkins. We learned about Johnny Appleseed, ate delicious apples, played a pumpkin patch relay game, and tossed witch hats. For a little inside break in the day, we read by flashlight in the dark. An insect lesson and the always favorite tram ride through our little town with treats from the Vienna Branch of Hebron Savings Bank added even more excitement!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to first grade teacher Mrs. Diffenbach for her once again scheduling and coordinating of this traditional day of memories. We are continually thankful for our community partners who supported us, as well: Blades Orchard, the Dorchester County Farm Bureau, Ms. Valarie Brinsfield, Hebron Savings Bank, the Reid Family Farm, and the University of Maryland Extension/Agriculture. Their contributions made this version of the Fall Festival a day of fun and learning.
