Yesterday, the kindergarten and pre-K 3 classes took a trip to Councell Farms!









Thank you to all families for joining us for our Multicultural Reading Night! We had a wonderful time enjoying music, books, and food from diverse cultures. Special thanks to GMK Catering for the delicious jerk chicken and rice and peas, and to Martha’s Ice Cream Truck for the delightful treats! A big shout-out to our Community Liaison, Mrs. Higgins, for organizing this fantastic event!






Here are some of the students who have visited the book vending machine this year! They have been consistently reading two steps at school and two steps at home each night! 📚








Today we celebrated Pegasus’ Day of Confidence! The day began with our students being greeted and cheered on by CSD cheerleaders, football players, and our dedicated Pegasus parents. Throughout the building, posters and encouraging messages from our Pegasus House staff and students filled the space. Students were also given the opportunity to visit an affirmation station to help boost their confidence. It was an incredible day! Thank you to the Pegasus House members for organizing such a fantastic day!

This week in math, Ms. Abbott's kindergarteners practiced counting from 1 to 10 using leaves for hair on their drawn faces. The students also wrote the numbers representing how many leaves they used.










Today, first graders in Ms Leas’ class “brewed” some magic by revealing and reading words. In math, students worked together to solve addition and subtraction equations.





Third grade students in Mrs. Gardner’s math class designed their own skyscrapers, showcasing their understanding of arrays and the commutative property.










October is bullying awareness and prevention month. DCPS will participate in the National Unity Day 2024 campaign on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. All students, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear ORANGE to show a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying! Everyone is encouraged to post pictures to social media using the hashtag #UnityEveryDay.

Students in Ms. Drake’s second grade class finished out their week in math with a subtraction scoot. They worked with a partner, moved around the room, and solved subtraction problems within 100.









A visit from the fire truck for Fire Prevention Week!










Yesterday was our Family Math Night! Thank you to all the families who joined us for fun math games, face painting, and our annual pumpkin decorating contest!






This week, Mrs. Gardner's third graders learned a new multiplication strategy using arrays. The students enjoyed arranging M&Ms into arrays and writing matching multiplication equations.
