Yesterday was our Title I/Back to School Arc Night, and it was a fantastic event! Parents and guardians learned about our initiatives at Maple, while students decorated sleeping bags and listened to a bedtime story for their stuffed animals. Families enjoyed a fun breakfast-for-dinner and played some reading games together. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to all the staff who helped make it a great night!

We’re excited about our iReady data so far—many students did not regress over the summer break! Great job, Maple Lions! We’ll update this announcement once all assessments are complete, but we couldn’t wait to share the exciting news. Some students are still testing, and that’s okay. We encourage them to take their time and do their best. Keep an eye out for your child’s BOY iReady report!

Yesterday, the 4th graders in Ms. Kolakowski’s homeroom visited the Harriet Tubman Museum. The day began with an opening ceremony where students learned about the role of park rangers, sang the national anthem, and discovered how various government agencies work together to preserve historical sites. Afterward, they enjoyed lunch at the pavilion while listening to the Beat Box Dads, who helped the students practice clapping syllables and explore different aspects of music. The day concluded with students splitting into two groups: one group painted scenes depicting Harriet Tubman’s journeys, while the other group improved their basketball skills and learned about freedom.

Today's Seven Mindsets lesson focused on creativity. The kids had a blast using various-sized paper and popsicle sticks to create amazing projects, either as a team or individually. Their imagination was truly inspiring!

In ELA, our 4th graders are exploring connections with Alvin, the main character in Alvin Ho, who is afraid of everything from wasabi to school. To engage with Alvin's fears, students tried wasabi peas to see if they would add wasabi to their own list of fears.

The 4th grade math detectives in Ms. Cook’s class had an action-packed day! When the classroom supplies were mysteriously cursed, the students took on the role of detectives, working in groups to uncover the culprit. They received suspect lists and math worksheets in their case files as “clues.” Each worksheet provided valuable information to help them eliminate suspects. By the fifth clue, they successfully solved the mystery and identified the culprit.
