Look for a report with current reading ability coming home with semester 1 Corrective Reading and English class scholars the week of September 29th. Please speak to your scholar’s teacher if you have questions, concerns, or would like ideas for how to support literacy.
Five Tips for Supporting Literacy at Home:
~Encourage summer IXL practice which can be done on cellphones and reading.
~Read in the home, even reading cooking instructions and other practical items or product labels count.
~Reply to one another’s text messages in complete sentences with punctuation and capitalization. (Bragging rights for being an editor and fixing other people’s errors.)
~Watch media with closed captions turned on.
~Go to the public library or check out books from the school library.

We also want to extend our gratitude to the local organizations and businesses that participated in the vendor event, providing families with valuable information about the resources available in our community. Together, we’re building a stronger support network for our students and families! 💙📚 #NDHSBackToSchool #CommunityStrong #ThankYou

💜 Dorchester Goes Purple! 💜
On September 16th, students are invited to wear purple to show their commitment to living a drug-free life. Each student will receive a purple bracelet to wear as a symbol of their pledge.
That evening, don’t miss the Soccer and Volleyball teams playing at NDHS — they’ll be showing their support by wearing purple socks!
Let’s come together as a community to raise awareness and stand strong against drug use.
Families can learn more about this important message at Just Think Twice: justthinktwice.gov
#DorchesterGoesPurple #DrugFree #CommunityStrong #PurplePledge

In recognition of recovery month, the Dorchester Goes Purple campaign invites students of all ages to decorate their own purple ribbon. One elementary, one middle, and one high school student will be selected to have their artwork featured on the DGP website and receive a gift card. All submissions will be displayed at local businesses throughout the county.

🌧️ Weather Update for Students 🌧️
In the event of rain or other inclement weather, students will be allowed to enter the building starting at 7:30 AM. However, they will need to stay in Town Hall or the Cafeteria until the 7:40 AM bell rings, signaling the start of the school day.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
#SchoolUpdate #InclementWeather #StudentSafety

Join us in raising awareness and showing support for mental health by wearing yellow on September 10th! Let’s come together as a school community—students and staff alike—to shine a light on suicide prevention and remind everyone that they are not alone.
Your support matters. 💛
#WorldSuicidePreventionDay #YouAreNotAlone #WearYellowForHope

There are still students who have not brought in User Agreements so that they can get their laptops. Classes are beginning diagnostic testing and school assignments that require the use of student laptops. It is very important that students get these as soon as possible.
Below is a link to the user agreement that can be printed and signed or students can get one from the front office.
User Agreement

📢 Attention NDHS Parents:
Starting now, NDHS will be conducting random hall sweeps between classes to ensure students are in their classrooms on time.
Students who are not in their classroom when the bell rings will be escorted to a central location and marked unexcused tardy for that class. They will be responsible for making up any missed work.
Being on time matters! Missing just 2 minutes of every class adds up to 3 hours of lost instruction over a semester. Let’s work together to help our students succeed by being punctual!
Thank you for your support.
