❄️🧹 This afternoon’s warmer weather gave us hope… but that ice was still NO joke! So in stepped our very own “Inspector Gadget of Ice Removal” — Mr. Evans — on the case in his signature coat-and-hat look and ready for action. 🕵️‍♂️🧥 Go-Go Gadget… shovel! 😄 Alongside our amazing custodial team, he helped give that stubborn ice one final shove on its way out. We’re grateful for leadership that shows up wherever it’s needed — even when the assignment is frozen solid. Spring, we’re ready! 🌤️💪

Good Afternoon DCPS Families!

There is a slight chance of winter weather this evening, so just in case it impacts school tomorrow, students are being sent home today with their devices and/or paper learning packets.

If weather does cause a school closure, we will move to virtual instruction for the day. This is simply a precaution—we’re hoping Mother Nature cooperates and that we’ll see our students bright and early on Wednesday!

Thank you for helping us be prepared (and fingers crossed we won’t need it 🤞).

📣 NDMS Families Update – Virtual Learning Day (Wednesday, 1/28/26) 📣

Due to continued winter weather conditions, DCPS has announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, will be a Virtual Learning Day.

🕘 Classes will begin at 9:00 AM, and students are expected to log in to their classes at the appropriate times.

Google Meet codes have been sent via text message and email to the phone numbers and email addresses on file. This information is also available in each student’s classroom Schoology pages.

If a student experiences technical difficulties or chooses to complete a paper packet, all work must be completed and turned in on the next in-person school day for attendance and grading purposes.

❗️Please remember: Google Meet links should not be shared on social media in order to protect student privacy.

We look forward to seeing our students virtually tomorrow morning. Thank you for your continued support, and please stay safe and warm! ❄️

Hello DCPS families and staff—this is a quick update from Winter Weather Headquarters ❄️

After Monday and Tuesday’s snow days, we’ve officially used all the snow days in our calendar. That means Wednesday, January 28, 2026, will be a virtual learning day for students.

Students should either log in for virtual learning, or—if your family requested a paper packet—work on the packet that was sent home last Friday.

Schools shared virtual learning details last week, so families should already have schedules and login information. If you need a refresher, please check your school’s messages.

Just a reminder that Thursday and Friday are professional development and semester transition days, so students will not be in session. Staff will participate in virtual professional development and should check their email for details.

Thanks for your flexibility—stay warm, and we’ll see our students online tomorrow!

Best of luck to our NDMS students who braved the chilly Saturday morning to audition for All-Shore Band at Parkside High School! 🎶❄️ Mr. Pages stopped by to wish them well and offer some last-minute advice before heading into the blind audition rooms. They’re in great spirits, and we’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. A huge thank you to our parents for getting everyone up and driving them to Parkside this morning—we truly appreciate your support. Thank you as well to Mr. Bragg and ESBDA for giving up part of their Saturday to host the auditions and make this opportunity possible for our students. No matter the results, they’ve already done something to be proud of—but we’re hoping to see some Owls make the band! 🦉🎵

⚠️Winter Weather Update from DCPS⚠️

A winter storm may impact our area this weekend (Jan 24-25, 2026). DCPS plans to open on a regular schedule on Monday, January 26, but we will monitor conditions closely and keep you informed of any changes.

❄️School Schedule - DCPS is scheduled to open for a normal school day on Monday, January 26.
❄️Weather Monitoring - If the storm moves in this weekend, we may need to close schools. Weather-related updates will be provided through the DCPS app, social media platforms, email, phone system, and website.
❄️Snow Days - DCPS has 2 more snow days built into our 2025-2026 school calendar. Maryland law requires us to use all built-in snow days before considering virtual instruction.
❄️Virtual Instruction - If the storm results in school closures beyond 2 days, we will switch to virtual instruction. Grades 1-12 will log into their devices to connect with teachers online. PK and K students will receive paper copies and can contact teachers for help.
❄️Preparation - Students with device agreements will bring devices home Friday; all other students and students in PK and K will receive paper assignments.

📅Possible Closure Plan:
❌Monday 1/26: If closed, no school
❌Tuesday 1/27: If closed, no school
💻Wednesday 1/28: If closed, virtual instruction begins
❌Thursday 1/29: Schools Closed for Staff Professional Development
❌Friday 1/30: Schools Closed for Change of Semester

We’re committed to being prepared and will keep you informed.

DCPS is monitoring for potential school closures the week of January 26, 2026 due to impending inclement weather
NDMS Families,
As we prepare for the possibility of inclement weather over the next several days, we need every family to complete the NDMS Device Agreement so students are ready for virtual learning if needed.
🔗 Device Agreement: https://form.jotform.com/260147514158152
(Please complete one form per student in grades 6–8.)

Snow Days & Virtual Learning Plan

The next two snow days will be full closures (no school for students).
After those two days, NDMS will shift to virtual learning.

Example: If Monday and Tuesday are snow days, virtual learning would begin on Wednesday.
There is a possibility that Thursday becomes a student virtual day rather than a staff PD day.
Friday will remain an off day for students regardless of weather.

Virtual Learning Requirements

Students will participate in 4 hours of live (synchronous) instruction via Google Meet.
Students who attend and complete assigned work will be marked present.
Students unable to log in due to internet issues, power outages, or emergencies must complete the paper packet instead to be counted present.

Paper Packets & Devices

Paper packets covering at least two days of virtual learning will be sent home this Friday.
Devices (laptops & chargers) will also be sent home Friday for all students whose families have completed the device agreement.
The Device Agreement tells us whether your child will:

Use a school-issued device
Use a personal device
Rely on a paper packet

Attendance & Grading
To be marked present and receive grades for the day, students must either:
✔️ Log in for virtual instruction OR
✔️ Complete and submit the paper packet
(Virtual learning times will be announced soon.)

If you have any questions, please reach out. Thank you for helping us ensure that students are prepared and ready to learn—no matter the weather!
