Dear Choptank Families,
I am excited to share that I have accepted the position of Principal at Choptank Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. It is truly an honor to continue serving the Choptank community in this new role, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.
For the past 10 years, I have proudly served in Dorchester County Public Schools. I began my career at Maple Elementary School, where I taught Kindergarten and First Grade for eight years. Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of working as Assistant Principal at Choptank, alongside our dedicated staff, resilient families, and hardworking students. The relationships and experiences I have gained throughout my journey have strengthened my commitment to this community and to the success of every child we serve.
Under Dr. Parker’s leadership, Choptank Elementary has made steady progress in academic achievement while also reducing chronic absenteeism as well as incidents of student physical aggression. I am committed to building upon this momentum and continuing Choptank’s path towards sustained excellence.
As we look toward the future, five priorities will guide our work:
Strengthening instruction and developing consistent and effective intervention systems
Improving attendance, student experience, and school-wide culture
Enhancing family and community partnerships to further support student success
Expanding access to early childhood programs and improving early literacy outcomes
Returning Choptank Elementary School to a 3-Star rating on the Maryland School Report Card
I am incredibly optimistic about the future of Choptank Elementary School and eager to continue this important work alongside you. Together, we will continue creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.
Sincerely,
Brian Morley
