Dorchester County Public Schools (DCPS) is proud to announce the addition of the Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub, expanding access to comprehensive early childhood education, family support, and school readiness services for children from the prenatal stage through age five and their families in the Choptank Elementary School attendance area.
Funded through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), the Judy Center Early Learning Hub represents an important investment in providing children and families with the resources and support they need for a strong start to their educational journey. The addition of the Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub brings the total number of Judy Center Early Learning Hubs in Dorchester County to four, further strengthening the countywide network of early childhood services.
DCPS is committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enter kindergarten supported, confident, and ready to learn. The addition of the Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub will strengthen connections with families and expand access to early learning opportunities, family supports, and community resources that promote children’s development and success.
DCPS Judy Center Early Learning Hubs are led by Julie Lewis, Supervisor of Early Learning, and Dr. Sally Roberts, Multi-site Coordinator, who will work alongside community partners and families to establish the new Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub
as a welcoming and supportive resource for the community.
The Judy Center Early Learning Hub will connect families with a range of early childhood and family services, including high-quality early learning opportunities, developmental screenings, parent education, family engagement activities, community resources, and coordinated support services.
During the 2026-2027 school year, the newly established Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub will focus on building relationships with expectant parents and families with
children from birth through age five, learning about the needs and strengths of families in the Choptank community, and developing programming and partnerships to support those needs.
“Building strong relationships with families is at the heart of the Judy Center Early Learning Hub model,” said Julie Lewis, Supervisor of Early Learning. “This first year will be an exciting opportunity to listen, connect, and build a foundation for services that reflect the strengths and needs of the Choptank community.”
Additional information about programming, family engagement opportunities, and ways to connect with the Choptank Judy Center Early Learning Hub will be shared as plans develop.
