Evelyn Windsor, a dedicated Dorchester Career and Technology (DCTC) student, has recently signed to serve as an apprentice at the Horn Point Laboratory, where she will be gaining valuable hands-on experience in oyster hatchery operations. Evelyn has completed the Biomedical program at DCTC and is currently enrolled in the CASE program. Through this apprenticeship, she is deepening her understanding of oyster growth and the critical role oysters play in maintaining the health of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.

This opportunity is helping Evelyn develop essential skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and attention to detail within a professional environmental science setting. Her experience is also guiding her exploration of potential career pathways in environmental science and conservation.

Evelyn’s commitment to learning and active participation in career-connected experiences exemplify the kind of student engagement DCPS strives to foster—preparing students for success in college, career, and community.
