Dorchester County Public Schools is proud to recognize our two Carson Scholars for 2026: Marlee Rogers from Vienna Elementary School and Jakayla Sisco from South Dorchester School.

The Carson Scholars Fund has announced its largest-ever cohort in its 30-year history, naming 706 new scholars and 994 recognized scholars nationwide. Among these outstanding students, 232 from across Maryland were awarded $1,000 college scholarships, with 348 Maryland students renewing their status as multi-time Carson Scholars. Within Dorchester County, two students earned this prestigious scholarship this year.

Since its inception in 1996 with just 25 scholarships awarded in Maryland, the Carson Scholars Fund has grown to honor 4,365 scholars statewide. These students, ranging from grades 4 through 11, are selected for their strong academic performance, leadership skills, and dedication to serving others—qualities that truly reflect the spirit of the Carson Scholars program.

Many past recipients continue to exemplify these values as multi-time scholars, making meaningful contributions through fundraising, founding nonprofits focused on health, literacy, and inclusivity, and driving innovation by developing apps, AI tools, medical devices, and educational programs.

The 2026 Carson Scholars will be celebrated at a series of six awards banquets across the country this spring. The 30th annual Maryland Carson Scholars Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at The Hall at LIVE!

Dorchester County Public Schools congratulates Marlee, Jakayla, and all Carson Scholars for their remarkable achievements and commitment to excellence.
