Each year in January, DCPS’s English Learner students take the ACCESS for ELLs assessment to demonstrate their progress in English language proficiency. We recently received the scores for 2025, and 30 students scored 4.5 or higher, meaning they met the criteria to exit the English Language Development program. This represents 10% of our EL population and is the largest group of exits we have ever had in the district! We are so proud of these students and the efforts they have made to become proficient in English. We also want to give a shout out to the English Learner faculty and the classroom teachers who work with these students. It is a true team effort to provide the individual support that each student needs to be successful.
