Salaries

Sick Leave
|
13 to 16 days per year, depending on employment, of which 4 maybe used for personal leave. There is no maximum accumulation, and the balance may be converted at the time of retirement to service credit.

Vacation
(12 Month Employees Only)
|
Earn vacation days annually based on length of service. A maximum of 30 days may be carried forward annually.
|
Health Insurance
|
DCPS provides two health care choices: BC/BS PPO coverage and the Delmarva Health Plan HMO. Vision, dental, and prescription coverage is provided with both plans. The Board of Education sets the employer's share of the costs.

Tax-Deferred Annuities
|
Tax-Deferred Annuities Several tax-deferred annuity plans are available.

Life Insurance
|
A no cost $50,000 term life insurance plan is offered to employees.
|
Credit Union
|
Employees may participate in the State Employees' Credit Union through payroll deduction.
|
Pay Period
|
10-month certificated staff may elect to be paid over a 12-month period. 11-month and 12 month employees are paid over the length of their employment. Direct deposit is available through several local banks.
|
Tuition Reimbursement
|
The Board of Education reimburses a teacher for coursework beyond a bachelor's degree necessary for a master's degree or certification requirements. Up to nine credits are allowed each year and are reimbursed at a rate equal to or less than the Salisbury University per credit rate.

Pension System
|
DCPS participates in the plans offered by the Maryland State Retirement Agency.
You may change your beneficiaries at any time by completing a Designation of Beneficiary form and filing it with DCPS.

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
|
Teaching Standards DCPS offers $2,000 annually to anyone who is hired with a valid NBPTS certification and participates in the Fee Incentive for NBPTS certification.
